Our Best Selling Gourmet Meats
With our vast range of tantalising and delectable meats of the world, you’ll certainly be spoiled for choice! From Irish Angus to Wagyu, our butcher stocks the best gourmet cuts and deliver them straight to your door.
Irish Angus
Boasting high-levels of marbling, Irish Angus is a moist and fatty type of beef which remains tender, juicy and packed with flavour when cooked. To keep its delicious taste and natural juices, angus beef is best served at medium to medium rare.
Start by sealing in the moisture and grilling your seasoned steak for 3 minutes on each side. Once you’ve sealed your steak, cook it in the oven for an additional 4 to 6 minutes until it is cooked to your liking. Finally, enjoy your perfectly cooked gourmet steak with a glass of red wine and your favourite side dishes.
Argentinian Beef
Whilst most cows are raised on a diet of grain, Argentinian cattle are grass fed. Since these cows enjoy a superior diet, Argentinian beef is of a better quality; packing a more flavoursome taste and brimming with healthy, omega-3 fatty acids.
Sashi
In literal terms, ‘Sashi’ is the Japanese word for ‘marbling’. As marbling tends to add flavour and tenderness, juicy Sashi meat is definitely another type of beef you should consider sinking your teeth into! Founded by passionate meat-sommelier Mr. John Sashi Nielsen, sashi beef is manufactured by a Danish meat company which uses Scottish Ayrshire cows fed on fresh Finnish grass.
To ensure first-rate products, each cut is hand-selected by John Sashi Nielsen himself. In fact, this company’s exquisite quality of meat has earned it the gold medal at the World Steak Challenge competitions three times, in 2018, 2019 and 2021.
Deriving from native Asian cattle, ‘WAGYU’ is an umbrella term for all Japanese beef cattle. WAGYU’s appeal lies with its mouthwatering taste and superior quality. Its meat is highly marbled, providing juicy cuts with a more powerful taste but, apart from being packed full of flavour, WAGYU also happens to be a healthy choice of beef!
Being naturally high in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, WAGYU beef has a relatively higher percentage of mono-unsaturated fat, making this a better choice for beef-lovers with high-cholesterol levels. Unsurprisingly, this is considered by many experts as the best beef in the world, and we can certainly attest to its first-rate quality.
Our Butcher Shop’s Local Delights
As promised, La Boucherie offers gourmet cuts of meat from all over the world, and this does not exclude Maltese meat delicacies.
Rabbit
Rabbit has long been a local favourite in Malta, whether served in a stew or fried to crispy perfection. Being one of the leanest, and most environmentally friendly meats you can eat, rabbit is not simply a delicious delicacy but is also a healthy option.
Maltese Sausages
Made from pork boneless shoulder mince, and a well balanced combination of garlic, coriander, parsley, salt & pepper, maltese sausages are well-loved amongst locals and tourists alike. Pop them on the bbq or in a soup for a hearty and delicious meal.
